Last week, I went to the Canary Islands; more specifically Fuerteventura. Here’s how it went!

On the first day, which we spent mostly travelling, we went to Luton Airport and after a long flight, we arrived at the island’s airport. Thankfully, the last section of our journey was on a coach ride, so we could rest, which was nice at almost midnight.

Our hotel (Bahiazul Resort) at night.

The following morning, we got up, ate our breakfast and went to explore the local area. Since Fuerteventura is a volcanic island, there was not any real grass or trees (other than palm trees), just a lot of shrubs, bushes, rocks and lichen.

As soon as we got past the entrance of our hotel, we noticed a path up to a hill, so we took it, and realised that there was a Lidl directly on the other side, almost embedded in the rock!

The Lidl in Geafond.

After we got our shopping, we went home to relax, try out the pool and the hot tub in our villa and then had dinner, which was “International themed” that night.

The next day, we ended up in Corralejo, the local town, where we looked around a lot of shops. Sadly, most were the typical tourist tat shops, but I guess that’s what you see on an island with a lot of visitors from abroad.

A few days later, me and my Dad went to the top of a local mountain, called “Montaña del Cuervo,” or “Crow Mountain” in English. It was really windy up there, so it was hard to get many photos, but I still got quite a few.

The next day, we went to the famous Popcorn Beach, which, as the name suggests, looks like a beach made out of popcorn. After going, I definitely agree with that!

Not all of it looks like popcorn, but it definitely does nearer the sea.

On the second-to-last day of our holiday, we went on a larger trip around the north of the island, just in case we missed anything. Wow, did we miss a lot!

Below are some images I got along the trip, The captions say where they were taken.

Mirador de Vallebrón, La Oliva, Spain
Castillo de El Tostón, La Oliva, Spain
Faro de Tostón, La Oliva, Spain

And those are just the best places we went. I tell you, that was a gorgeous trip, but it was very tiring, so we decided not to do anything on the last day except pack.

And because our plane had been rescheduled to leave at 10pm, we had a lot of time to pack, so, after triple checking we hadn’t left anything behind, we went to the airport.

When we arrived, we checked in our bags, went through security and the idiotic Entry Exit System – no functioning system takes that long and also doesn’t tell you that it exists! We waited almost an hour in the main terminal without realising that a massive queue was forming around the courner.

After that hassle, we went on our flight and arrived back home.
