Considering half my name is literally “Stuff,” you probably wondered how it gets made. Well, today I thought I might show you my process to help you make your own trinkets.

Getting started

Of course, to print something, you’ll need an idea of what you want to make. Of course, for me, this will usually involve photography and – very rarely – illustration. These are both great places to start, but you can choose your own.

Once you’ve got an idea, it’s time to bring it into reality. I’d recommend using apps like Affinity, Canva or Gelato’s own design tool, depending on the complexity of your design.

For example, I’d use Gelato’s tools for anything simple, Canva to make anything involving more than that and Affinity to create illustrations. The first is what I use most of the time as my designs are usually just photographs.

Choosing your canvas

Next, it’s time to choose what to print your design on. I commonly choose postcards, greeting cards and sometimes even t-shirts, all of which are available to print on Gelato. Depending on what you’ve designed, I’d find the product that makes the most sense for you. You can view the full library by clicking here.

Where (or If) to Sell Online

Once you’ve made an account, Gelato will ask you to link an online store. These include Shopify, Etsy and even eBay. This is entirely optional, and you can choose to make your design a template, meaning you can order it yourself as many times as you like, or add it to an online store at any time.

For my own products, I make templates of my designs, and order them whenever I’m running low. In order to avoid the maximum amount of fees I can, I’ve set up shop listings on Ko-Fi and whenever someone orders on there, they receive all of my future exclusive content and I just send the calendar manually. I have now linked an Etsy store, but I don’t have my full catalogue on there yet.

Conclusion

So there’s my production process! If you want to support me while printing your first item, you can get 50% off of your purchase within 3 days of signing up to Gelato by clicking here.
